Accelerate Visits Literacy Mid-South to Spotlight Tutor901’s Impact

Literacy Mid-South was proud to welcome representatives from Accelerate, a national organization focused on expanding access to high-dosage tutoring, for a site visit on Wednesday, April 9, following the recent award of a $250,000 competitive grant. This visit marks a key milestone in the growth of LMS’s high-impact Tutor901 initiative.

The visit, hosted at Alcy Elementary School, gave Accelerate a firsthand look at how Tutor901 is transforming literacy outcomes across Shelby County. The Accelerate team observed a full tutoring session with 3rd-grade students—highlighting core components such as the welcome routine, Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, and Fluency (PPF) instruction, iReady lessons, and wrap-up activities.

This visit not only celebrated the hard work of educators and tutors but also underscored the critical role of structured, high-dosage tutoring in addressing literacy gaps and building brighter futures for students in Memphis.
