  • Goodwyn Gallery, Benjamin L. Hooks Library 3030 Poplar Avenue Memphis, TN, 38111 United States (map)

After asking the communities of Memphis to Share Your Skill, we're celebrating all the phenomenal skills and talents that make up our city!

Join us to celebrate the exhibit featuring the Lowrance K-8 School's art club work, and Playhouse on the Square and Arkwings artists.

Stop by between 530p-730p for family-friendly snacks and drinks, Share Your Skill activity stations, music, and book giveaways.

About #SYS901:
#ShareYourSkill901 is a campaign launched to eradicate the stigma around adults with low literacy proficiency. Stations were set up in two different Memphis area libraries per month from May 2022 through January 2023, with a third station being taken to community events. Adults and children could write or draw a skill or talent they are proud of on a bookmark that would be collected at the end of the month or event. All of the bookmarks gathered (over 2,000!) were used to create art projects by the elementary and middle school art clubs at Lowrance K-8 School.

Through this campaign and the reception, we're not only focusing on the fact that everyone has valuable skills and talents but also the way that literacy can be used as a tool to improve and enhance them.
